The Planning & Architecture Career Family involves the designing of any built environment, structure or object, from town planning, urban design to furniture and other objects. It comprises of studying the planning, design and construction of various establishments.

Career Roles

1. Architect

Architects work in the construction industry, designing new buildings, restoring and conserving old buildings and developing new ways of using existing buildings. They are involved in construction projects from the early stages to completion.

At school level, students should ideally pick up Science and Mathematics. If the school provides an opportunity, classes in Design and Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) should also be taken. Minimum requirement to get into a top college is 80% marks in class 10+2.

Architects can pursue a career across a range of specialties such as landscape architecture, interior architecture, environmental design etc. It gives individuals the opportunity to experiment with different ideas and explore innovative ways of doing projects.

2. Urban Planner

Urban Planners keep in mind the future needs of the city's population and recommend placement of various infrastructure such as schools or roads etc.
