1. Economist

An Economist is an expert who studies the relationship between a society's resources and its production or output. The societies studied may range from the smallest of local communities to an entire nation or even the global economy.

At school level, one may pick up Humanities to pursue a career as an Economist. If the school offers, it is recommended to take Economics and Mathematics.

After school, one can pursue Bachelor of Arts in Economics, followed by a Master’s degree. A master’s degree or Ph.D. is required for most jobs as an Economist. Economists may work in a variety of fields such as education, health, development and environment. Some economists work for companies with major international operations and for international organisations such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and United Nations. Some of the profiles held by economists may be as research assistants, financial analysts, market research analysts and other similar positions.

2. Historian/ Archaeologist

A Historian is an expert of a time period, geographical region, or social phenomenon who conducts research and analysis for governments, businesses, historical associations, and other organisations. An Archaeologist is a scientist who studies human history by excavating remains and artifacts.

At school level, one may pick up Humanities to pursue a career as an Archaeologist or a Historian. Students who have History as a subject in class 10+2 are given preference in colleges. For admission in a top college, the student should pass in class 10+2 or its equivalent exam from recognised Board with minimum 50% marks.

For advanced education, Bachelor of Arts in History/ Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology can be pursued followed by a Master of Arts degree. Research positions, including many jobs within the government, typically require a Ph.D. Students with Ph.D. in History usually concentrate on a specific area such as a country or region, period, or field, such as social, political, or cultural history. As an archaeologist, a possible specialisation is teaching or preservation.

3. Psychologist

Psychologists study cognitive, emotional and social processes and human behaviour to ensure mental health and well-being of individuals, families, groups and society.

At school level, one may opt for Humanities with subjects like Sociology, Philosophy, Maths, Economics, English etc. along with basic introduction to Psychology, if possible. One can also choose Commerce or Science in class 10+2 and still pursue a degree in Psychology.
